The River Rises

The river rises above the city,
covering every object it sees,
merciless and persistent it continues
to roam, leaving many grieving for
their homes, the fauna that surrounds
begins dry-rotting to the ground,
when the river finishes having its way,
one quiet town will be dismal and gray.
