The River of Peace

Underneath the tumult and toil of our urban lives flows a river of peace Every Friday night we bathe in its water Eyes gazing upward find solace in the ineffable The power that preserves echoes through our lives as we chant Kaddish and Adon Olom We are transported to arealm Where faith becomes knowledge Knowledge becomes joy We are but a small part of eternity But having mad our decision at Sinai We release the flood waters of the river of peace and confirm the covenant ever Friday night

Matthew, I know this is way off what your poem is about, but brought back memories of me as a small child taking a bath in a big steel tub while visiting grandma ,each of of us taking turns getting ready for church the next day. You are so right ,we are but a small part of eternity! Anne

Lovely way for all to see this faith, a couple of things 1 I think it's too short ;) I want you to show more of the scents..the smell of the match as it lights the candle, the curl of the smoke as the wisp rises and the heat of the flame is wafted toward the beauty of the women lighting it [nod] the many types of shawls and head covering draped over the glory of each woman's hair..how the wax may drip and pool in awe..how each family has a special candlelabra?
