The Risk

Another year has rolled in
silently like fog that settles
hugging everything in sight
as it creeps so does a virus
silent, yet deathly for some
we settle in our homes
try to do what is best
a new vaccine has arrived
testing done in haste
giving us a sense of hope
will it be the answer
to world wide anguish
will the benefit
be worth the risk.

Looking back on those not willing to take that risk. Do they still wear mask as i see people today? Sometimes poetry ask questions. Should it?IDK

All our family are going to have it when it arrives in South Africa, it is a case of you're are damned if you do and you're damned if you don't - I will take the risk with the vaccine - thought provoking poem Phyllis, well penned my friend. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer

A vaccine can only help if it is available to people, Phyl. We have seniors camping out for more than 24 hours at the racetrack, trying to get vaccinated. There has to be a better way to distribute vaccines. I am hopeful the vaccine will help, but only if people get it. Thanks for your visit to my page. It was my brother's wife who died. They have six grown children. Hope your holiday went well! Sorry, I didn't send cards. Hugs, Carolyn

Thanks for the visit and wishing you the best in the new year. The virus has many people scared and not much seems to be known with how this vaccine will work so being cautious will be doing a lot of reading on it. love phyl

- Norway has vaccinated few people ... yesterday a 105-year-old woman was vaccinated ... the nurse who was young was without a vaccine ... I can not understand that it is right - Take care, dear Phyllis ... the virus is flourishing like never before ... even though we have a vaccine ... the danger is not over - Best wishes for a happy new year :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

We are only beginning to vaccinate the people here and they want to give it to the old first. Seems not much is known here and everything seems confused. Makes no sense over here at the moment as to who is open and who isn't. Take care. love phyl

Hello Phyllis … this virus has become such an enemy that it engulfs half of the news broadcasts and has changed our life patterns. I’m sure one of the vaccines will work, but which one will it be - our NYE had no celebration either Phyllis - Lindsay

Hi Lindsay and yes the news has gotten carried away with news of the virus and so many mixed messages on dos and don'ts out there. Not sure about how this virus will spread but even with masks, cleaning hands and distance it still is spreading. We stay close to home and no visiting. love phyl

Ah phyl. so many questions concerning the virus and the vaccine. Some don't trust the vaccine. Some don't believe the vieus is as bad as they say. Who knows. In cases like this we just take it to The Lord and lay it at His feet. Let go and let God. God Bless my friend. JB

no, it is NOT worth the risk, dear. The virus is hardly deadly, only to the very sick. Why chance more grief with a rushed to market virus? I enjoyed seeing you and your poem here today.

I agree Not worth the risk with all my allergies. I also feel they rushed this without knowing future consequences. We think alike. love phyl
