The Ring On the Table

The foot of the wineglass Left a ring on the table The table was scarred By the foot of the wineglass The ring on the table Was left there, rejected Next to the ring that the wineglass Left on the table The man drove home Who left the ring on the table The ring next to the ring Left by the foot of the wineglass The ring was rejected Whilst the table accepted The scar on its surface Left by the foot of the wineglass The man was rejected As the wet circle reflected The dim candle-lit room Where the bride left the groom Utterly rejected And all that remains Are the wine-foot stains On the table of wood Where the wineglasses stood
