The Right Size

Rain comes crashing down
Meeting my umbrella, shoulders
And splashing on my socks!
It clears my nostrils like metallic
Menthol and lavishes my eardrums
Lashing the walls of chambers.
The gutter at my feet is a raging
River in miniature, transporting
Muck and on it an unholy
Disaster for smaller things!
Spiders, flies and creepy crawlies
Bear the brutal ending of their lives.
A ladybird clings on a floating cigarette butt.
A caterpillar just makes it by hanging off a leaf!
But the hungry gully devours so many!
Boy I’m lucky to be the right size!

Really enjoyed this poem today early afternoon, David! It was so nice to see you on facebook! Yes, having the right size is helpful! Listened to Perlman's Nocturne on youtube, great performance and now I am listening to Tartini's Violin Concerto in A-Major D96-Mov.1/3 (on youtube). Only few know about that Italian composer an violinist. But it is worth while to listen to his music...Thank you for your comments and have a great week ahead...Gert

The cleansing rain is disaster for some of of those living creatures...Even for those of the right size a bigger sewer like a dry riverbed that all of sudden becomes a raging carrier of excess water can carry big objects away...Keep the creative and thought provoking writes flowing from your pen...Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my work...Sara

LOL. Very well written, can imagine clearly the whole scene, creepy crawlies and all. Indeed you are lucky to be the right size. Hope you get to see a rainbow when the storm's over.
