Billions of dollars spent in the 1960's on social engineering solutions to America's problems. Trillions proposed now. Can't we learn anything from history? Apparently not.

The Great Society has returned Its leader now not LBJ But Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. His hair all white; his ideas frayed It didn't work then, it won't work now 'Coz it's not a matter of know-how The old 'War on Poverty' needs be the new War on Crime The same mistake made back then, and now this time A society with a law-and-order breakdown Invites demagogic rule and more violence It needs to be met with a strong, firm hand Not with 'Defund-the-Police' or just silence Good, high-paying union jobs, old Joe proposes So we can ruin infrastructure like we've ruined education With their shouts of racism, injustice, and inequity Our well-paid teachers keep kids out of classrooms as long as can be I could go on and on here, but what's the use Once government unions take over, incompetence breaks loose

Hello Gershon ... education changed in the seventies here and it's been rubbish ever since. It seems the death of the Roman Empire is forgotten especially what caused it - thanks Gershon - Lindsay

Gershon, you are so perceptive and express my thoughts precisely. We on the "right"' side are like those crying out in the wilderness and are not being heard. Bob H

Like you Gershon I could go on and on. We haven't learned a darn thing. Now, I just hope we can survive for 4 more years. I have my doubts that Joe will finish his term. A truthful and honest write.

At this point, I'm ok with Biden departing, by the way. Kamala is too weak, too inexperienced, and too unconnected to get done what Joe's pushing through. The sooner Joe goes, the better.

Great write, Gershon! I don't understand how more people don't see what's really happening in our country. It's so sad. Blessings, Kim M

Kim, I feel the same way as you do... To perhaps understand this: First, Americans don't know their own history, by and large. Next, those under 60 didn't live through the 'Great Society.' Finally, Americans have extremely short memories. (And have to say this: Progressives have fallen in love with ideas that are disconnected from reality). Thanks so much, Kim, and God bless, gw
