The Retiree's Nightmare

The Retiree’s Nightmare

By Elton Camp

With the daily grind survived
Joe’s time to retire finally arrived

Then some thought he had to give
As to where, in retirement, to live

South or north should he now go
To a warm clime or a land of snow

Humidity and tornados to face
Or snow and bitter cold to embrace

Then one night Joe began to dream
To the north he moved, it did seem

Into his back yard he did stare
And saw a thermometer out there

An astonishing reading it did show
For it was more than thirty below

The snow was piled up five feet deep
The vision aroused Joe from his sleep

Shivering, he pulled the cover to his neck
“It’s to the sunny South for me, by heck!”

We have relatives living in western New York, so I have to write something to tease them once in a while. Thanks for reading. Elton
