The Rescue Mission
"Rescue Mission", was inscribed
On the building just ahead
In letters bold, it offered aid
For the needy, - - food and a bed
Located in an area that was destitute
On the run-down side of town
Necessities it would provide
For those who society had cast down
It could be a homeless vagabond
Or a trauma laden ex-soldier
Someone whose family has passed on
No one to turn to, now that they're older
There may be a few, who fake a need
And of this, we should be alert
Yet many are as Lazarus was
At the gate, his plight, he did assert
I present to you an analogy
Spiritually speaking, there was a time
I was in dire need of rescue
From the pit of sin, I could not climb
On a mission, - God sent His Son
Rescue the perishing, was His theme
He delivered me, when hope was gone
Like me, - you too, - He will redeem
