The Redwoods

The Redwoods I wish I could bath in the forest And jump high among the redwoods Just to see fifteen hundred years of history I wish I could hover among the tree tops And escape the scars of time I wish I could live near the sky And witness the world unfold Like a marbled murrelet I wish I could sail the seas And rest in these trees I would travel in low light hours Casting silhouettes on the sky And with urgency of life Point feather and fly I wish I could brave weather And enemy in days endless From wave to shore to tree High above this marvel Nestled in a redwood canopy
