The Red Party Condition

"THE RED PARTY CONDITION."

up the path to San Diego
down the catwalk to freedom
she carries for letters of pain
like Jesus carried his cross.
she smiles to hide it,
she cries to cover it,
her four corners seek the
solace she's longed for
since heartbreak.
her fingertips yell,
she walks into the sun,
she runs from the mountain,
she's settled to remain free.
they verbally beat her
and they wonder,
they ask,
yet they do with answers
already stored.
her stepping stones lie in
the darkness she was given
but didn't ask for.
she knows no love but she's mine.
word-for-word,
corner to corner,
tear for tear.
I give love,
she knows love.
