The Reality of Accectance
Acceptance is an affliction festering within the minds of the hordes,
within those who fail to accept their own imperfections.
I am far too familiar with the pains of ridicule
and my own unwarranted determination of acceptance
into a society that belittles those who are atypical.
I was once absorbed by my own persistence,
my own self-pity, my own ignorance.
We each possess our own abnormalities,
some visually apparent,
others lay dormant within a conceited mind.
I am repulsed by those who, under scalpel,
alter their guise, merely to appease society.
In their distorted reality, acceptance is paramount.
I lament for those whose impairments
encumber a comparatively normal existence.
Normality is relative to one’s own mind,
as is the sad reality
of being accepted by others.
