The Read Moon

There’s doubt in their shine
They read confusion at her blushes
A vivid recollection of Mars at her curses
Renders the stars’ light dull with shyness
Hinders their mood like a red tide

A conflict of both romance and lunar weather,
Interacting in her eye like a blood clot
A face written in a glow of wonderment and sadness
A confession of sin or
A reflection of guilt

The owls hoot a fearful chill
A wolf howls a soft frost, too meek to bite
The forest hums a still silence up the hillside
The night sounds a breeze of unknown origins,
A whiff of a past trill like a reopened cold case

The sunset was incomplete
A bad day seemingly lingers on
Midnight harbors deep thoughts of sorrow
The day haunting the night like a nightmare

In the restlessness of the trees,
A failed plan fell upon a resting leaf
Into a dream banking on what is promised tomorrow
