The Rains Are Here
After a long summer the rains are here
The office goer is carrying an umbrella
Clothes on the drying line remain damp and wet
Long after the hidden sun has set
The overcast sky casts a grey light
Adding to the homeward-bound commuters' plight
It is a pitter-patter all day long
The teenager stays indoors and plays ping pong
The city's woes can be farmer's delight
The little boy sees the paper boat glide
The water level in the rice fields rise
The ripples reflect clouds moving in the sky.
The rainy season is a blessing in disguise
Being critical of rain is not for the wise
By and large we are forgetful of seasons
Chasing material things is the only reason.
