The Rain and Me

We never seem to remember our umbrellas.
We pull out our raincoats and the zipper breaks.
I stop at the gas station, which should be safe and covered.
But rain always leaks in giant drops.
I’m not the type to jump and play in puddles.
I stay in my car.
On the way home, I see people on bikes taking cover.
Anyway,
At least I don’t have to go to the car wash!
I can get home early instead, and cook, and watch TV.
When it rains, it’s not about me.
It’s about the flowers and trees.
But today?
The rain worked out in my favor, after all.
