The Rain
Our sunny streak is over,
the rain has just begun.
for weeks we've had blue skies,
now grey clouds hide the sun.
The deck is just as peaceful,
but in a different way.
The gentle patter of raindrops
replaced the sound of birds at play.
I love the sound of rain
when it's a gentle shower,
coming down so softly
to nourish grass and flower.
We've had over a week of sunshine
to show us Spring is here
but now the rain is falling
from skies no longer clear.
Rain soothes the land and my soul
and washes both pure again.
I love the sunshine, true,
but I also love the rain.
