A school of philosophy that emphasizes the pursuit of pleasure & the avoidance of pain as the primary components of a happy life. Kinetic pleasure & Katastematic pleasure. His ideas on pleasure as the chief good & his materialistic metaphysics have significantly influenced Western thought.
