The Race In the Dark

Why does my mind race
               as I try to get some sleep?

What will I make for supper,
And will I be late for a class?
How are my children doing?
It's all coming at me so fast.

Why does my back hurt,
And will my dress still fit?
I wonder how my friend is?
Is my poem going to be a hit?

How do I turn off this light
As I lay here in the dark?
Hoping to rest my mind
And put out that growing spark.

Why does my mind race
               as I try to get some sleep?

It has been a busy few months for me. I have a close friend staying with me for the past month and a half who had a stroke. She used to love coming here and gardening but is able now to do very little. So I have dedicated my time to her for a while. I will taking her home next week. I also have a son who is an entertainer, Danny ZZZZ, who has been on Italy, America's and Canada's Got Talent as a Dare Devil. He has dedicated his last two acts to his son who he lost 2 years ago so the world will know his name (Mason) Needless to say my mind is everywhere but where it should be. I will soon get back to writing.
