I crouched behind the tall grass growing Spied a sly fox galloping towards me With rapid breath, his ears held high A hanging tongue, red eyes were glowing He was hunting....he was wry I watched him hunt, ...in tall grass growing I knelt behind the tall grass growing Saw the rabbit cower lowly Looking for a rabbit hole A place to scurry....he must hurry A rabbit bracing,...hearts were pacing My own heart was pounding, racing I hid behind the tall grass growing Watched the sly fox snatch the rabbit A witness to the course of nature I felt the darkness cloud the picture Overcome by grief and sadness I sat upon the tall grass growing I stood up in the tall grass growing Knowing of the force of nature I must leave now.....I will grieve now........somehow my own tears are flowing ______________________________________________________________ Contest The Rabbit and The Fox (Inner animal) Resubmitted and revised for PD's 100 in a ROW contest -- 17

"Nature red in tooth and claw" does not often meet our expectation of natural justice, but the creative way you critiqued it reminds me why of old you are one of my favorite poets. I love this write, it was pure art. Happy New Year, Carrie, it was nice hearing from you marvelous friend.

Hi Neighbor - Awh that was a very tender poem Carrie. Nature is both a very beautiful and tragic. The circle of life must end for one in order for the other to survive. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and that the coming year has many blessings for you, mj

This one grabbed my attenttion and held it..I was allured by the story line..It ended different from what I expected..Good luck in the contest with this great work..Your presence at my blog lifted my spirits..I have heard from him again..Phyllis called about four as she was leaving Atlanta..She said Physical Therapy had him up in a chair..He had hit the pain button about three times and was more comfortable than he had been...Sara

Nature can fill us with both beauty and sadness. It is just the fox's way to survive by attacking the rabbit. It was gripping to view this through your words, Carrie. Forgive me for not reading more; I've got the flu and it's been keeping me in bed. Love, Carolyn

Outstandingly beautiful with all the thrills of a lovely drama. You have sketched a scene so amazing and full of colors that the reader feels as if, he is watching the game of the Fox and the Rabbit in reality. Great write. The end of the Poem again gives a shock and thrill so true and so wonderful. Thanks for such a lovely write. I have placed a new Poem 'Rain, the Story'. Hope you would enjoy it. With all the best wishes for a Happy New Year 2011 with love ....Ravindra... Carrie Richards
