The Quoter
remnant of an age
long passed &
certainly
irrelevant now,
the quoter cites all
phrases
which come dwindling
from her/his mouth
out into the open air
with a brush of
elitism
which none of us really
need
to size up the
pretension
of which this idiot
operates---
without a powdered wig
or the once accompanying
elaborate attire,
the quoter seems out of place
even in their own
ridiculous fantasy
where long drawn out &
memorized
stanzas of verse
do nothing for the 21st
century
passerby,
except make them wonder
just what it takes
to take oneself so very
seriously,
so as to try & pass the time
with a sense of meaning
in a world that has
none.
