The Quilt
The Quilt
A hundred pieces of cloth
Each a different pattern and color
Diamonds, squares and triangles
Each measured by the eyes of an artist
Each cut one by one by a steady hand
Small pieces with no identity
Sewn together hour after hour
Their beauty comes from unique patterns
Patterns passed down through ages of artists
Each one when it is finished tells a story
A piece of history in every stitch
Every seam a an artist’s vision in itself
There is a moment of pleasure when the last stitch is made
Pride in a piece of creation
In that moment a spark fills the artist
A spark that cannot be quenched no matter what
Another hundred pieces of cloth come out of hiding
And another quilt is started
