The Pursuit

I have pursued it Like a Sherlock longing for a Holy Grail Or a Raleigh broken in the dungeon of spirit Dreaming where the Argonauts sail. And sometimes when through a mist I see a glistening glimmer of light My Eureka takes the exit From my wingless Icarus of joy And I sit like wax in the waneless sun This Atlantis figmenting my love This El Dorado with garulous globs of gold This tide that carries the panting world To the flotsam littered shore I have pursued it Brain, breast, and blizzard blinded grassy core There is no end to it And no beginning here This life, this parable of my existence O that I was a Drake from its peak A Columbus on its sandy circumference Divine, mysterious Eternal sheik.
