I still see my own puppy. She is barking as loudly as she can, and the old dog smirks every morning in the mirror at her determination to stay young.

Sometimes you see the puppy in the old dog, and vice versa, my dog is 5 now, so middle aged maybe? Interesting comparison to the ageing process~

And does your 'puppy' wince when you call him/her a 'puppy' at age 35 (in human years)? Oh, I know: Once a puppy, always a puppy. My 'baby' (human one) is 23 now and a tough-as-nails soldier in the Israeli Army. Some 'baby.' Take care, Gershon

Ouch !! Poor puppy. This happens in real life as well. We roam around and then find ourselves in the mix of those we shouldn't be near. Always be careful, with who you hang around. ~ Brandy

I can see that now. A parable of a man's life. Now, I see both. Thank you for pointing that out Gershon. Me and my deep thinking sometimes. :) Brandy

Interesting take on the poem: I had intended it as a parable for a man's life, in youth and old age. Thanks, Brandy. :) gw
