The Pub Ii

Inside pub steins stout magic spoke ‘neath genie wisps of bangle smoke Brown cone cigars, deep chubby pipes Aromatic spills to breach the night. Music calls to muted songs Rough knuckles echo Bodhrán drums. Flute, melodeon, bouzouki*, mandolin Penny whistles, uilleann pipes, one feisty violin. Pied piper rhythms, pied piper beats Bold Celtic persuasions to move proud legs and feet. To Daver and friendship, thank you! * Bouzouki...A stringed instrument that could stand up to the volume and intensity of fiddles, flutes, accordions, and pipes. *uilleann pipes...Irish bagpipes...melodeon. an Irish accordian

I was there in that pub, somewhere in a corner having a strategic view. I was a soldier eating my salad. I had not a fork or spoon just my knife ready to guard my life and a treasure hidden in my secret pocket: a new book of verses written by you. No pictures were necessary: Each verse depicted you. I ate my salad and you did not see me. Out it was raining. In, you mourmuring a song: Lily Marylin or It is a long way to Tiperrary to the sweet girl I know.

As soon as I saw the word "Pub" I assumed you had to be from the UK or Ireland. Either way it is still a cracking little poem! My best regards, Michelle. :) john

From Canada, but have enjoyed several Irish pubs. Beneath the pungently/spicy smoke odour, had been a clean smell reminding me of Murphy's soap. Good food, kind people, and music that will follow you home. My best wishes to you, John. Mikki :)

Ah Andrea, he is so very sweet, good, fun, funny and wise, and we are lucky to have him on the Soup!:) He'd enjoy being called "the cat's meow", more than being given a Sasquatch hug. :)

Haven't heard from you for a while. HOw are you doing? Well, I hope. Give us an e-mail and a new poem. We have a new cat. It comes through the screen and starts crying. This is an everyday happening. We call it Cry Baby. Hugs - a bushel and a peck. Old Cat Dave

Alas, the poet tree is not new at all, but my memory is so bad that all fine poetry is new each time I read it. A bushel of hugs. daver

"awful cold weather" here too Daver.:( Hope you car starts! My car is doing alright...it's the door lock that freezes. Someone had said pour hot water on it; that worked alright until the water got the icy upper hand. Then I'd had to call CAA. I don't lock the door any longer.:) Love you, Mikki

Love it. We have suffered our first big snow, actually nothing for you up there in Canada, but over 6 inches for us. The poor porch kitties poke heads out once in a while, but don't want to wade in the snow. Love and hugs. daver

Love this one. Am I the "feisty" violin? This is a regular ball with all the color and music of a raucous pub. Love ya. daver
