The Promises We Make

The meant yet empty Promises we make At any given point in time throughout our past However heartfelt are made armed with whatever information we have at hand Like I will always keep you safe save you from the shepherd's crook Never make you choose or ever give you up Are sadly also susceptible to the elements of time Because everything in life can change in a single moment instantaneously And make the very last words that you uttered and came out your mouth The very next second seem disingenuous and even hard to justify Leaving you with egg all over your face And worst of all a loved one questioning The true value of your relationship And whether or not they can actually in fact believe Anything you have to say in future Or have said in the past Even if at the time you we're telling the truth not lying

I have often thought about this very concept Christopher, of how we behaved and acted in a particular point of our lives, is it still relevant and accountable now, to be honest I don't know, but it certainly helped forge the people we have become, be it good or bad, I think we can only can be sure of the moment at hand, very intelligent writing, cheers David
