The Princess of Pout
A long, long time ago, there was
a Princess Maria who was spoiled,
whenever she didn't get her way
she pouted until her lips protruded
as if asking to be kissed,
her ladies-in-waiting called her
the Princess of Pout, a young royal
who thought of nothing but herself.
One day, while visiting her rose garden,
a frog jumped upon her shoulder,
with protruding green lips he asked for a kiss,
irritated, she brushed him off with her hand,
how dare that ugly frog ask for such a thing,
she being a princess of royalty would never
kiss someone beneath her, especially a frog.
The horrendous idea made her lips protrude more,
her nose wrinkled until all her nose hairs shown,
glancing at her reflection pool she noticed a tall
and handsome knight in shiny green armor standing
next to her smiling away with protruding lips,
was this her prince charming waiting to be kissed?
Without a thought she turned to him and gave him
a kiss which lasted a lifetime and forevermore,
as the centuries moved on, the rose garden and
reflection pool stayed the same except for
a stone statue of a young woman kissing a frog
which she holds in her hand with pouting lips,
protruding slightly.
