The Price Of War. . This little mite of tender years Didn’t ask to be born Have her world destroyed around her Her mind bruised Her heart ripped and torn . All she wanted was her cuddle bunny And her comfy bed Her Ma and Pa Mangled in the carnage In pools of crimson Sadly dead . Bewildered and trapped In a world she doesn’t understand She lives a nightmare Delivered by an evil hand . Scared for life Memories that mar her formative years With heavy heart she struggles Through life Drowns in an ocean of tears . I’ve said it before And I’ll say it again No one suffers more than the innocent In bloody wars And suffers so much pain. . Peter Dome©2020.

As a Veteran I applaud your work. As a fellow poet, I love the language you used to build this piece of poetry. It rang true with your theme. Very nicely done. I wrote only one poem about war, it was an extended metaphor titled "Deadly Enemies" if you're interested in a similar read.

What a kind sweet poem, love it and faved it - the young and vulnerable suffer, what a darling photo you found - if both her parents were killed he should have taken her back to America with him, they wouldn't even know and I know she would have a loving kind home, this soldier tells a true story - an emotional write. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.
