The Price of Things Lost In the Fire
Oh the price I paid for unrequited love
A price too much to bear
For I loved the one who lived in fear
One to selfish to care
When I counted up the cost
It's a price I never should have paid
I paid with my heart
I paid with my future
I paid with any children I would have hoped to deliver
With no present loves in waiting
I'm no longer sure they are a possibility
I hold on the faith
I hold on to God's love maybe
Maybe one day the price will be cancelled
By the love of his son
But the price certainly did not relieve me of the consequences that still affect daily.
Not a day goes by that I do not ponder
upon the things I lost in the fire
The fire of love
The fire of fear
The fire of selfishness
The fire that ravaged the future
