The Price of Freedom

The Price of Freedom When will it happen again? Didn't he love me like when we began? Black eyes and a heart that won’t heal Holding my own to stop the ordeal. I knew if I did better, the assaults would cease. My behavior did nothing to maintain the peace. Nowhere to run and hide he will catch me in a stride Each lesson learned Left wounds that burned Don’t talk back Or everything will go black Keep your eyes on me There is nowhere else for you to be. You are mine to do as I please, You will put out when I tell you and not be a tease. You are trapped with no way out His betrayal and abuse confirmed I deserved it, without a doubt. Found my inner strength and voice With my spirit intact, I made the choice. My freedom would not be easy The road to get there was not breezy. I thank the Lord for His divine intervention I left the abuse behind hanging in suspension. I’m free at last and my life is a blast.

Very glad you were able to leave it behind you. You’re so much better off making your own choices. Gritty poem. John

Thank you John. It is only by God's grace that I was freed.

So glad you are free! No one “deserves” that abuse. Hugs-a-million…

Thank you Kim, I agree all of those should be free. It was a long road to freedom but by God's grace I made it and a stronger person beacuse of it. Praise God. I wrote about my struggles and the ugliness in the world in my autobiography "Gracefully Broken" I am still in the process of submitting my manuscript
