The Prettiest Rose

All stars share the same sky,
but that doesn't mean they shine the same.
Some are held close, like a rose.
Some fade unseen, forgotten like a rose's thorns.

That's saddening — but true.
Still, it was never about roses, or stars.

I hope no one ever makes you feel like a thorn,
'cause you are the prettiest rose the world will ever see —
and even on the nights you doubt it,
I'll keep choosing to see you.
