The Prairie Rivers

The river meanders along the grassy edge
Following a similar route it took millions of years before
The stones smooth and round as they are pushed along
The water rolled and ground them for centuries
they wound their way through the plains
The river banks become home to many creatures
Who visit it's banks on a daily trip
Slowly it wound it's way through the landscape
Twisting and turning making semi circle patterns
Through the low lying fields
This old river that was once young and fast flowing
Now becomes slow moving along the valley floor
Once crystal clear and moving swiftly
Now becomes slow, and stagment
It has taken it natural course for millions of years
Battered by sun, rain, snow and drought.
It created a changing landscape for centuries.

Lovely image of the river when it was filled with water, Phyllis. We've had lakes, even some rivers, dry up and then nature eventually restores them. Hope that is the case for your river. Love, Carolyn
