The Power of Ants

Strength is evident and power prevails in unity
For even smallest ants cast long shadows...
.......marching as one

No me
No I
Just we
One purpose

An example for us all
How our shadows should fall
Together.....long
Where strength is evident and power prevails in unity

I stood outside of work thinking about this one. and how true it is. The ray of light is as small to the ant as it is to us. But you also capture the internal workings of the mound. knowing that behind it all is that being we call a queen. Yet we know not if it is she who gives the orders. Your poem gave me new questions. And if it is the duty of poetry to do so then it is a queen in itself.

Wanted to thank you for this very kind comment...am awake here my time at 4:30 am and actually had some time to myself...your kindness means a lot. I like what you said about poetry being a queen...don't know what I would do if I couldn't write sometimes...she is who I talk to...

Those lone ants don't have a chance. Their efforts are for naught. So when they dance and lose their pants there's no one to keep them taut. :)

This thing is known to many but you have expressed so artistically that the lesson is beautifully clear to understand better. Regarding shadow you have matched a great philosophy here. Again, congrats on your win, my lovely friend. Loved always,bl

That was so well said Donna. A great write for us all to realize. Nature has so many lessons to teach, but only the wise can see. Great piece that should hang on many walls as an inspirational reminder of who we are.

Like Nette there is a lot of strength in ants when they are in groups,in fact they can be so interesting to watch but when they come indoors and feed off my cats food I get quite annoyed, very good write my dear, take care..............Vera............

Very nice write about those amazingly incredible ants. And so appropriately named. Great points made also Donna, especially in purpose. Take care and have a great weekend!
