The Poppy Field
While on a walk, and quite by chance, we found a poppy field,
We stood in awe to watch the dance, the sunshine now revealed,
The scarlet cups blown full and wide, their grasses, in eager sway,
These pretty flowers could never hide on this fine September day,
Each red cap did proudly bow, as if to bid good day,
My sister and I did curtsey low, then started on our way,
With bonnet ribbons tied quite tight, we set off past the throng,
Just like the poppies, bold and bright, we cannot stand still for long.
