The Politeness of Death

Polite to me and tall in gesture fair, 
Offering openness to my raw feelings, 
Leaving nothing behind but a lectern, 
Insisting on my viewpoint and reeling; 
Tough on that, and unable to retract, 
Energy for my memories so compact.
