* the Poet

Does a poet just write poetry?
Is this the work of his and her life?
Who takes care of their children?
Their parents, husbands or wives?

If they do not make any money,
they will not have any to spend.
Maybe they borrow money once in
awhile from parents or friends?

Now if this friend happens to be a
poet as well, they may not have the
money to lend, than whatever will
the wives, husbands and children do?

Poetry until I start back to Collage in the fall which seems to be what the Lord and everyone who knows me personally believes I should do - Everyone seems to think I have a calling and I reckon the Lord is leading me to something because after doing shots of meth and heroin everyday of my life for 25 years I sit here now with 5 years 3 months clean - Wow that certainly was a mouth full huh - don't know why i spilled all that over on you but I reckon there is a reason - God Bless, MJ

writing poems - Do I make any money - none to speak of and I use it to put the books in addicts hands - The Lord provides my needs in some very amazing ways - and since my injury's my wife has taken over the working end and I take care of the house which is very hard and aggravating to me because I have always been the primary bread winner so to speak and never stayed at home - Sometimes I feel like I'm still incarcerated I just have a lot nicer cell now which I reckon I'll stay in writing

You know Rhonda I was 41 before I ever wrote a poem - I was in Prison for cooking Meth and used to make in a week what I now make in a year and whats odd is now I have more than I ever did - I personally write poetry to keep my twisted mind in check and I seek spiritual enlightenment - Seems like every time I start to walk away from this the Lord puts me in a situation that keeps me right here where i am which is at home all day - One injury after another - one operation after another -

very insightful. I've never known anyone who got rich from writing. Poetry just seems to let you shout a little. There is nothing more rewarding than a good shout. great write!!!

You gave us a nice chuckle, Rhonda. Few people get rich by writing. We're not all John Grishams and Steven Spielburgs. Most of us just write for the pleasure. But about that money...can you spare a dime? Love, Carolyn
