The Poet

Once lived a pen the paper loved Echoed with pride every time it tipped, Each soul prayed to be worded by the infant Only to discover the beauty they caved Into the darkest of dreams he went With the flashes of fireflies And the buzzing of the bees To open the eyes for the emotion in his cells A sip of his poetry juice won the attention of every taste bud Famished lands turned savannah and asphalt jungles bloomed into the sky A mirage of a far-flung shadow formed in the bright sun The rockets he propelled never may land! Days grew older and winter began falling The last few drops of elixir flowed like wine The reindeer gave serene signs of resistance and, Every inch of beauty he rode on his back began realizing the change Clocks refused to move and the time came, Sleepless nights and envisioning daydreams bid adieu Despite seeming so sure as a one-way path He needed the stick to walk on his mind The Phoenix in him rose from his ashes Gazed upon the starlit night with a sigh Whispers filled the air and a symphony of silence prevailed The creator took his pen and the world waited….
