The Pledge of Allegiance

The Pledge of Allegiance

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the
United States of America,...."
How many times we stood together
taking upon us the Pledge of Allegiance
I learned about this Pledge in school I was
Only 4 years old but was able to say the Pledge
By myself in one month from my first day at school.
Do you remember? We needed to stand to say it.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands one Nation under God
Indivisible with Liberty and Justice for All."

Where did this mighty pledge go? It just stopped one day.
I remember how grand I felt as a child that I could say the pledge and
learn of its meaning in school. I would stand and put my
hand across my heart, I could feel my pulse rise as I would say it.
I was proud to be an American.

I too remember how proud I was to say the pledge. The children I hear recite it today seem rather bored with it.
