The Pleasure of Going Down Memory Lane
The ecstasy of a silky bed
Warm covers and soft pillows
All I want is to sink there
And get carried away in hollows
Of the path of past memories.
Mum smiling and hugging me
like in a maze, I hear my giggles.
Dad chases me and catches me.
Delicious sensation brings wriggles
And laughter echoes in my ears.
Careless little feet of childhood
ventures boldly leaping time
year after year, with gleaming eyes,
blowing candles in melodious rhyme.
Proud another year is gone.
My eyes flow open and I rise in trance.
An angelic face seeks in the mirror
Those days never to come back.
I can see the images, all so clearer
And a poignant pain pierces my heart.
My arms surround myself for a hug.
How I miss that carefree moment,
Of sublime confidence in my dreams
I acknowledge defeat and victory.
Be it today my atonement.
Everyone is born to complete the phases of life.
Alas! If they could know...I was once a kid too!
