The Playoffs Claim October

Christmas season's in December Thanksgiving weekend's in November The Playoffs claim October, Halloween aside True-blue baseball fans all aboard for the ride Combatants' senses sharp, nerve ends tingle Concessionaire's cash pockets jingle Green diamond fields - hoary haunts of yesteryear Fading memories of heroes past - atmosphere The tension mounts before each game Players ante up for fame Emotions yo-yo - stomach's butterflies 'Play ball!' the call ~ It's do or die

Each verse more unique and interesting than the one before. And it started out strong.

Very vivid, I feel like I'm at the ball park with a hot dog and Cracker Jacks :)

You mean that you're not at the ballpark during playoff time?! -- I'm not either. Thanks, Michelle.

And are you pulling for the White Sox? Being a Phillies fan, October will have to be Halloween for me. This was a home run my friend.

The Phillies fizzled this year, I guess. As for the White Sox, I don't even want to turn on the radio TV after yesterday's first game debacle. I had a feeling that the Astros were just too high-powered... OK... time to brave up... Here I go... Well, they're only down 2-1 in the fifth inning. ... And wait again... They've just batted in two runs. 3-2 Sox. There's still hope in the Heartland! ... Thanks, Chris! ~ gw

I’ve always enjoyed baseball and I’ve met a few of the major-league players in my time. Once in my youth I worked at the Los Angeles Coliseum at a Dodgers game in concession, selling hotdogs. I enjoyed your poem very much. Blessings xxoo

Wow. That must have been exciting as a teen-ager, to work in Dodger Stadium. What a mammoth place that was/is! ... My youngest son worked two summers at the first Kosher Hot-Dog Grill ever at Wrigley Field, Home of the Cubs. That was a nice experience too. He told me that the players were bigger than he'd imagined. Of course, the Cubs were really tall back in 2017 and 2018: Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Addison Russell, Kyle Schwarber, even Javy Baez, etc. :) gw
