The Place of Slumber 1

The dreaming maiden, by the brook,
Had fallen fast asleep
Wandering further than she knew
She lay, without a peep.
For in this place, where magic lives
The animals, all, were sure
the maiden came, just as foretold
with a heart of gold, so pure.
It was foretold of her arrival;
She’d be the one to save
The place of her own slumber
From the beast within the cave.
Alas, now, the maiden stirs
She awakens with a sigh
Her eyes now open, now she turns
Welcoming beauty to her eyes.
