The Place I had to move to the big city. I miss the trees and fields. My world feels closed in. The walls ever nearer to me, physically, with the passing of each dawn. I long to go back…, to go back home. It is not there. It has not been there since beyond my heart to recall. The people I remember are dead. Passed on, some to heaven and some to hell. I miss my grandparents. There was rain today. It did not stop for hours. Some people are being flooded out even now. It will be a hard winter. The lights never go off here. The stars are blocked out, by their false brilliance. It is demeaning to the heavens, as their very miracle of existence is blotted away. Perhaps that is what is wrong with places like here… They never truly sleep. They are deprived from rest. They do not observe Sunday. Every day is exactly the same as the next. The cars they go back and forth. There is a pattern of course. It is hard at first to find, but there is one. The people are part of that. They don’t even know. Get up, go to work, come home. Do that again and again, then die. Home has changed its meaning completely. We need to remember that and return. Home; A place where loved ones come together each and every day, or night. A place where bad things lose their sting, mom has band-aids ready, Father has the bible in hand, and we pray(ed) at dinner. No one spoke on a phone, unless they had to. (police, morgue, math teacher) They talked, and loved, and cared. They saluted Our Nations flag together and bickered only about things of little consequence. Ever aware of the true value of life. If you don’t have somewhere…, be comforted… you are already there. God is beside you. He has never left you. He will always be with you. He has filled every promise, He is worthy of every praise. In his glorious Name! Amen.
