The Pink Evening Sky

THE PINK EVENING SKY

Spring sunset is the cruelest time.
The glowing young sun is gone
And I face an eternity of empty skies,
Filled only with the darkling solitude
Of knowing you will not return.
Oh the void of my young soul was
Filled to bursting with love beyond compare.
Then you were gone like a thief in the night,
And took my satisfied spirit with you.
The pink cloud is a weakened wash
Of life blood without you, bleeding into
A horizon of imminent darkness.

A very moving description of one whose love has deserted them, Syd. I like the analogy of the "weakened wash of life blood." Excellent entry for the contest. I'm trying to hang in there, but things didn't go well. Hope you'll check out the contest I posted on "Taxing Times." We could all use some laughs it seems. Love, Carolyn
