The Pilgrim
I’ve walked a long way,
reached the edge of the extant landscape
under the gleam of the twilight sky,
I look back, see the footprints fade away far,
where the life’s terrain flashes
with the tinge of the setting sun.
I traverse the undulating memory track
along the flow of the reversed time,
search the illumined archive my life has made,
find among many lamps already extinguished,
some still flicker in the remote corner,
the glint shimmering on me that I’ve been….
A compliant son who valued the heritage,
a loving husband who shared everything he had,
a caring father who made dreams for the children,
a compassionate man who found goodness in every soul,
a pious man who configured his life divinely contented,
a devout pilgrim walking the last mile to His realm.
