The Picture
I traced you picture from my memory
Your hair still has a little gray
I could have made you look like you were twenty
But to me, you were much prettier this way
Now I'm not the artist that I used to be
So your eyes might look a little funny
The eraser on my pencil was all used up
So I'm sorry if your nose is kind of runny
Your smile looks like it did when I first saw you
That's a memory that my hands cannot forget
Your smile lit up the room when I asked you to dance
You were the most beautiful girl that I've ever met
Now that picture sits on my bedside table
Where I can see your smile every night
You're the first thing I see when the sun comes up
And the last thing before I turn out the light
I traced you picture from my memory
Your hair still has a little gray
I could have made you look like you were twenty
But to me, you were much prettier this way
