The Photograph in Black and White
The black and white photograph
captures a brief moment of time
and a gesture of love meant to be shared
with only him,
the one you married with vows of fidelity;
through good times and bad.
Did you believe the novel you held in your hand,
with its happy ending love conquers all
and its wise advice love can change a man.
When did you know the fairy tale lied,
because love never could defeat
the man's mistress, Alcohol.
