The Petrified Forest!....(John Loving Iii Haunted Poets Game?)

Frightened by the darkness of this eerie night

Crystal eyes cracked, by the horror of its sight

A phantom amid the forest of these petrified trees

Of barrened branches, stripped of their leaves....

Taunting eyes filled with fire, flames, as he soon does approach

Souls dripping, from the sickle of this host!

Hansel and Gretal lost, along the trails which encumber the most?

Startled by the sight, of this ghoulish ghost

And now, dashing through the woods as they run for their lives

Yet to no avail has become, the destiny of their plight....

These stories foretold, that could find no passage through

The sinful groves, which had waited upon the two!

Since their longings and their doings, that had led them to this place

Knarled and twisted, blood, soon to be spilling from their fates....

Thorn pierced panes, exploding amid these driving rains

And sliver broken sashes, which shiver within their blues

Afore these vertical visions, of had they only knew!?

This echoing laughter; while the pages do bleed

Hansel and Gretals fairy tale, tainted, amongst their darkened deeds....

No longer searching, for their ginger bread house

As the taste of doom awaits, their wanton, and delicious dates....

Screaming as you now awaken, from this foreboding dream

Christie Moses, its now your turn, to warn....So, let it be!?

Hey, you must have been playing quite a game here , john! fairy tales are often quite dark and grusome and this is very dark. Sounds even incestuous?? Reminding me of that story, flowers in the Atiic! A very enjoyable one to read! thanks for your lovely comments. Andrea

Awesome work, John! Love the way you interwove the elements of the Hansel and Gretal fairytale into this frightening account of a "petrified forest." This is one of the best "haunting" poems I've read. Love, Carolyn

Hi John, I'm finally taking a break from too much "Life Stuff" to read a few poems. Yours is the first in several days. And it was definitely entertaining. I could picture every "SCAREY" sight described in this wonderfull version of the well known Hansel and Gretal fairytale. This is a very nice contribution to the game. Lovingly, Dane

Hi John, you know you are quite the poet and you can take any subject and make it masterful. This has all the suspense and goulish style I am sure you did the game proud. From beginning to end you paint a vivid picture of horror. Love You Always, Love, Charlene

Poor Christie...this is a hard act to follow...excellent job, John !! Watch out for all you who may be lost in the darkness of the forest...stay away from Grandma's house...it's the wolf in disguise that's sleeping in Grandma's bed..."Better to eat you up, my dear Christie!!" LOL!
