by Russ Dodson (c) 1968. 2025

I've never had a unicorn
because I couldn't catch one
and I know no virgin maid
whom I could send to fetch one

I showed this poem to a friend here at the retirement community, in which I reside. He said I should ask one of the retired nuns who also reside here. I thought about it, then responded that they didn't apply under the terms of the poem. While they might still be virgins, they were no longer 'maids' because they were married to Christ. Sister Sullivan agreed with that. Heh

Thank you John. It was one of those that arrived full blown. It only required superficial tailoring. Quite a nice gem I think.
