The Person You Are
I don't know who you are
I don't know where you're from
But to be quite honest, I couldn't give a damn.
But tell me my friend, are you aware, of the person you are?
Have you really ever explored or travelled all that far?
You tell me of all the people and places you've seen.
But have you ever stopped, to just take in the scene?
Have you always made your travels the best as it could've been?
Have you ever really experienced the joy of happiness?
Have you experienced the true sorrow of sadness?
Have you ever been to an outrageous party with savages?
Or do you prefer to sit at home and be content just growing cabbages?
What's in your heart?
Whats in your soul?
These are the things that make us whole.
So tell me, not who you are.
Tell me, not from where you came
Tell me, not of your name, nor that you are from some sort of fame.
These things really don't matter in this life we treat as a game.
But do tell me, if you're a person who has stood outside to appreciate the rain.
Or helped a stranger, not for any reason, not for any gain.
Do tell me if you're a person who's empathetic to other peoples emotion and pain.
Tell me these things and a true friendship will always remain.
