The person I used to be

I am often not very kind to the person I am
and the person I used to be
I often criticize her more than anyone else does
but she was doing her best 
with what she had to work with
The person I am today has much more insight
into what was going on at the time,
yet I judge her harshly for doing the best she could
I think I will try to be nicer to her in the future
because life is hard and everyone makes mistakes
If you grow from those mistakes, then you are better for it
and I like to think she is a better person today
because of what I often perceive as her past failures
