The Perfect Painting Love

He softy strokes a canvas, in His style
As She sits there wearing, just her smile
He's studies all Her lines
As he carefully defines
The beauty that exists
Within her soul
He lives and slaves
For this very goal

Pigments mixing, creates a different hue
Colors blending the way the often do
He looks into her eyes
But he dares not compromise
For his love of art
He simply can't deny
And paints Her while the tears
Flow from His eyes

Slowly twisting, brushes filled with umber
To a canvas, that cannot be encumbered
For it is his connection
To this painting of perfection
No greater critique
Can there ever be
He's imprisoned by the Art,
That set Her free

Holding beauty, in such adoration
His is truly, the greatest abdication
He wants to keep her near
But, he works in constant fear
She can't return his love
After all
While he gently hangs her portrait
On, His wall......

As she's leaving, his heart begins receiving
Inspirations, that dissipate his grieving
Another girl comes in
As she poses to begin
Soon another Artist love-a-fair imparts
That's one more "Perfect Painting" for The Arts

I really enjoyed this piece Jerry. Sometimes the person who is the object of our desire lacks the capacity or inclination to love us back. Still the love is imbedded within the layers of paint. If you have a chance read my poem "The Canvas" I think you might enjoy it.

Picture perfect but can only hang on the wall, what a great ending. I really like this. Is it for that one contest I saw. It looked quite challenging and I didn't yet see the video that goes with it.
