The Pepperman and This Dawning Thought

I OPENED A DOOR
  FOUND MYSELF SITTING
  ON A LEDGE
  ON THE FACE
  OF A MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN.
  OFF IN THE DISTANCE
  BEYOND THE HORIZON.
  THE MORNING SUN
  HAS YET TO RISE.

  AS THE FIRST
  RAYS OF SUNSHINE
  BURST INTO VIEW
  OVER THE DISTANT HORIZON
  THIS THOUGHT APPEARED
  BEFORE ME.

  BEFORE AND AFTER,
  NOW AND THEN.
  WHERE EXACTLY,
  DOES LIFE BEGIN.?
  I PEERED INTO THE FUTURE
  LOOKED BACK UPON THE PAST.
WE CROSSED A MOMENT IN HISTORY
  THAT WAS BORN TO LAST.

  TODAY AND TOMORROW
  YESTERDAY , TODAY.
  HOW EXACTLY IN HISTORY
  DID THAT MOMENT FADE AWAY.
  AN EXOTIC BLEND OF BEAUTY
  WITH AN ESOTERIC MEANING
  REPRESENTING FUTURES PAST
AND ALL THAT WE WERE DREAMING
